Thomas Trentin
Vicenza
Thomas Trentin was born on 10 December 1980 in Vicenza. As a child he was a member of the Scouts, until he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 19. In 2003 he experienced two aggressive flare-ups that knocked him down, but was helped by the head physician of the hospital ward where he was being treated. He invited him for a bike ride that kickstarted his love for the sport. In 2017, he read Zanardi’s book, “Volevo solo pedalare” (I just wanted to ride), which inspired him, leading him to sign up for the first Gran Fondo bike race to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
In January 2018, during the winter holidays, he met Alessandro Cresti, who introduced him to Obiettivo3. Thomas was soon recruited by the initiative and joined the Sclerobikers group, which was created by Cresti himself and brings together O3 cyclists with multiple sclerosis. His greatest feat was to complete the Sportful Dolomiti Race in 12 hours. He’s married to Sonia and father to Mathias, born in 2010.
