Giulia Ruffato
Pianiga (Ve)

Giulia Ruffato, born in 1987, is from Pianiga (Venice). Her life has always revolved around sport, both for pleasure and professionally. While as a child she did swimming, volleyball and skiing (her main passion), after getting her degree in physiotherapy she started to work closely with a number of local amateur football teams. She has many interests, from theatre to Latin dancing.

She became a wheelchair user at the end of 2013 due to a physical condition, a few months before Alex Zanardi got in touch with her by e-mail. Once her rehabilitation was over, she jumped straight on a handbike with Anmil Sport Italia; she also started rowing and continued to ski. Early 2018 was time for a radical change: a career switch, the decision to apply for Obiettivo3 and to devote herself solely to handcycling. A winning choice, since from 2018 to 2022 she won 4 Italian handbike titles in her category, including as part of the national team, and won 2 bronze medals in the World Cup in Belgium and 1 in Canada.
