Gabriele Scalise
Padova
Gabriele Scalise was born on 23 March 1981 in San Donà di Piave. He has spastic tetraparesis from perinatal hypoxia, a condition that damaged his nervous system and compromised his ability to use his lower limbs and right arm. He attended a business-focused high school, loves languages, and dreams of travelling to meet new people and places. For Gabriele, sport is not only a passion but also part of his therapy. Through gymnastics and swimming, in particular, he can improve his motor coordination and manage his symptoms.
Gabriele’s Olympic dream began in 2016 when he attended the Paralympics in Rio, an event that made him want to try his hand at a new challenge, involving hard work and training to overcome his limits. In 2018, he joined Obiettivo3 and took up handcycling, a new discipline but one that now has him on his way to his Olympic dream. In 2022, he took second place in the Italian championships in Avezzano.
