Francesco Tomaselli
Taranto
Francesco Tomaselli, born in 2002, is a Paralympic archer from Taranto. He’s had spastic tetraparesis since birth and came into contact with archery in the 5th grade through a school initiative. He’s loved the discipline since childhood, and still practises it today. He competed in the Italian youth championships in 2014 and in the senior championships in 2019. This journey has made him grow not only on a sporting level but also on a personal level. Thanks to sport, Francesco has been able to come to terms with the daily difficulties arising from disability, acknowledge his own limitations and strive to overcome them little by little.
In 2021, at the suggestion of his coach, he joined Obiettivo3, where he was selected to be part of the newly formed archery team. The following year was his breakthrough, as in July he won the silver medal at the Italian championships and the following month he won a stellar fourth place at the European championships. These results have given him great confidence in pursuing his dream of participating in the next Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. At the same time, he has continued his schooling, and moved to Milan to study engineering management at the Politecnico, with the ambition of working in the insurance consulting sector.
