Federico Mestroni
Udine
Federico Mestroni, born in 1980, is from Rive d’Arcano (Udine). Unlike many of his colleagues, when he wore the Obiettivo3 uniform he already had a good deal of paracycling experience. He became a wheelchair user in 2003 after a motocross accident, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to play sport, alternating between various disciplines.
He started with basketball before a long love affair with the Olympic wheelchair, which he only gave up in 2015 for a handbike. He joined the national team, and in 2017 was invited to and competed in the world championships in South Africa. His greatest success came in 2018 when he won the gold medal at the World Paracycling Time Trial Championships in the H3 category. In 2022, he again reached great results, winning two medals (one gold and one bronze) in the World Cup. A lover of mechanics, he likes to build some components for his own bike himself.
