Emma Marcelli
Atri (TE)
Emma Marcelli, born in 1985, is originally from Atri in Abruzzo, but has long since moved to Verona. She fell in love with bikes when she was very young, so much so that she started competitive cycling at the age of 15. It was a love that was reciprocated, as cycling became Emma’s life and profession, and in time she managed to make a name for herself as a skilled all-rounder/climber. Emma participated in four Giro D’Italia and several races in Switzerland, Russia, France and many other countries, but after a crash she began to experience a number of issues, especially with her eyes and legs.
In 2019, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but she soon realised that she already had the weapon to fight the disease at home: her bike! So she joined Obiettivo3, became part of the Sclerobikers and participated in the Padua recruitment event in November 2019. She lives in Verona where she’s employed as a social-health worker and is continuing her studies.
