Eleonora Mele
Busto Arsizio

Eleonora Mele, born in 1980, is originally from Busto Arsizio. She grew up with the ball in her hands, played basketball from the age of eight and made it all the way to the C Series, mixing competitive sport with her career in PR. In 2014, at the age of 34, she was involved in a serious motorbike accident, which caused a compound fracture of her tibia and fibula. Initially, it seemed that she would have to have her left leg amputated, but after a long and arduous rehabilitation she managed to save and partially restore her limb.

Helping her through the rehabilitation process was a bike. After falling in love with fixed-gear bikes, she started cycling competitively, was classified in the C5 category, and became Italian champion in 2019 and 2021, after being recruited by Obiettivo3. The following year, she participated in the World Cup with the national team jersey and won a medal at the first stage of the 2022 World Cup.
