Cristian Cucco
Biella
Cristian Cucco, born in 1976, is an athlete from Biella. Born and raised in Piedmont, he did not play competitive sports as a child. After graduating from hotel management school, he embarked on a career path that led him to become a pastry chef. Some personal circumstances made it difficult for him to keep fit; Cristian neglected himself and gained significant weight. He was 130 kilos when, once he turned 30, he decided to get back on track and take up running. The results were immediately visible: Cristian lost weight and at the same time fell madly in love with running. He kept on running, even after his marriage to Marina in 2011. But a few months after the wedding, he faced a big setback.
The diagnosis of multiple sclerosis was a hard blow that Cristian approached in the way that suited him best: by running. Exercise became therapy, toning the body and freeing the mind. Cristian completed 13 marathons and came up with his own slogan: “Se non corro, sclero” [If I don’t run, I’ll go crazy]. In 2020 in Barletta he won the Italian title in the half marathon, category T38. In the meantime, he had also taken up another discipline, cycling. A sport that captivated him to the point he wanted to try his hand at the duathlon. In the summer of 2020, he approached Obiettivo3. He learnt about the project via social media, applied and participated in the September recruitment event. And because good things come in threes, he is ready to add triathlon to duathlon thanks to the new Obiettivo3 project.
