Alessandro Tondello
Abano Terme (Pd)

Alessandro Tondello, born in 1977, is a para-archer from Abano Terme. Born in Padua but raised in the spa town, from an early age Alessandro has loved sport, in all its forms. He started cycling, also tried tennis and swimming, as well as a unique discipline such as bodybuilding. After his studies he started working in the hospital sector, in the organisation of conferences and medical conventions. He did this alongside working in a pizzeria, and it was after a night out in Abano that his life changed, at just over 28 years old. While he is returning home after work, a motorbike accident caused him a spinal injury. He had to start using a wheelchair and did so by continuing to work at the hospital, but above all by continuing to play sport.

He had long been involved with handbikes, category H3; after eight years of racing in paracycling he decided to try out a new discipline, to find new motivations but also out of necessity. Thanks to his friendship with Pierino Dainese, he tried archery, became hooked, and was thus recruited by the Obiettivo3 archery team. Already after a few months, thanks to his diligence, he made remarkable progress on the road to his dream, that of participating in the Paralympics. He’s married to Yasmina and is a big fan of motors, especially sports cars.
